Claudia Baré School - Parque das Tribos, Brasil

This is the Native Indigenous Cultural Centre in Parque das Tribos, Manaus - Amazonas.

Heart of Living Yoga have been supporting the school and the native children who are from 35 different ethnicities since 2018.

A computer, printer, projector and other necessities were donated during the 1st year of support.

As Manaus was one of the cities in Brazil that has suffered greatly during the pandemic, our support was very necessary to help feed the children and their families. A sewing machine was also sent to help them to make masks and increase their income. So food has been a priority in our support to them for a while and Christmas gifts helped to bring more light, love and hope to them.

At this point Heart of Living Yoga established a solid partnership with “Vidas Indígenas Importam”. This is a project from the Amazonian singer Marcia Novo with the support of FAS - Fundação Amazonia Sustentável.  

The bureaucracies and difficulties created for foreign charities in the Brazilian Amazon by the previous government delayed a lot of our most recent projects, but now we are able to move forward with the building of a newer bigger concrete structure for the children’s school.

As our last visit has happened during the school holidays we could not capture new images of all the children there, but it was a gift to watch Claudia Bare and her daughter working on painting natural cotton with their indigenous graphic symbols. This is one of the classes in their school and community as a form of keep their culture alive showing it in clothes and other artefacts. It also increases their family’s incomes.

After our meeting with the builders, we finally left the place happier and hopefull that soon we will be able to return for the opening of the new school structure.
